Parkun 205 - Facebook reviews

Good morning again and welcome to Mount Barker parkrun 205!

You know how there are claims that we are the best parkrun in Australia? And then all the Strathalbyn folk start to grumble?

Well, I’d like to read you a few Facebook reviews that settle this score once and for all.

Clarence Stroll writes [read from the phone]: “I’ve been to 39 different parkruns and Mount Barker is by far my favourite. Everyone is so friendly. They always bring their barcodes, stick to the left and share the path like a good Samaritan. And they are always so welcoming of new comers.”

Which reminds me: are there any first timers? Do we have any visitors? The course is the same as last week, but because you weren’t here: just run this way until you see a flag turn around it and finish on the grass.

Next review is from Jade Gallop: “Wow! Mount Barker has the most amazing volunteer ninjas. They are always smiling and everyone volunteers at least three times per year. And somehow they always manage to give me the correct token even if they are scattered all over the ground. Thank you and keep it up!”

Wow, the smiling ninjas! Let’s hear it for today’s volunteers David, Justin, Nikki, Stacey and team MacNamara: Carmel, Darcey and Phil. We have a sign up sheet on the table if you too would like to be a smiling ninja. It’s easy, fun and it feels great to give back.

And one final one from Rana Anon: “That run director Stoyan, he’s not only extremely witty and funny, but he’s also an incredible singer.” [dramatic pause, look up then back to the phone] “And almost all his speeches are true.”
