Good morning and welcome to Mount Barker parkrun CXXX, which is the Roman numeral for 130.
Are there any first timers? Welcome.
What about visitors? Where are you from?
Run this way until you see a flag near Bald Hills Rd, turn around it and come back.
Quick quiz: what do you get when you mix the Indian spring festival of Color Holi with a 5km race and charity fundraiser. The answer is the Color run. It’s on at the Victoria race course tomorrow and it’s not too late to enter.
Who is running at the City to Bay next week? Excited? Have a look around and perhaps see if you can car pool as parking is usually a hassle.
We had a strong MTB parkrun contigent at the Mt Hayfield trail run last week. I believe some of the participant are still sporting sore drumsticks this morning. The next trail run is at Kuitpo in November and registraion is already open.
It’s time now we express our gratitude to our fabulous and amazing volunteers whithout whom parkrun could not happen.
Charlie is our photographer
David is out timekeeper
John is handing out the tokens
Paul is scanning them
Rebekah is sorting them
Stephen is the tail runner
Jutin is the marshal
I am today’s run director.
And finally we have the mystery elf who puts up the halfway flag. Who is the mystery elf this week?
If you have done a few parkruns here you may be starting to recognise the volunteers’ faces and that’s because they seem to be same people over and over again. Granted we do it because we love it, but we also do it because no one else is putting their name down. So if you’ve never volunteered before and you feel like giving back to this wonderful community please come and talk to us. It’s easy, it’s fun and it’s a great way to meet everyone.
