Parkun 117 - once upon a time
Hi, welcome I have a little story for you this morning.
Once upon a time there was a little boy.
His favourite day of the week was Saturday because he got to get up early and go to parkrun with his neighbour.
The boy loved parkrun. He loved looking at the crowd of friendly faces and listening to the run director’s welcome speech.
That day
13 June Queen’s Birthday fun run where you run 5km without a watch and whoever gets the closest to their estimated time wins.
Waved to Tania the marshal with the walkie-talkie who made sure that the path was clear for the parkrun start.
When he got to the gravel near Bald Hills Road he saw the reveered half way flag put there by Andrew.
On his way back he high fived the tail runner Matilda. Gary took his photo.
The boy put in a fast sprint finish and Scott clicked his time. Meredith gave him his token and after the boy caught his breath he went over to Danielle and Sharon to have his token scanned. While he was there he signed up as a volunteer because he noticed there was only one person on the list for next week.
With all the formalities done the little boy went back near the finish line to chat to his friends and to cheer on the rest of the parkrunners.
His parents asked “why do you wake up so early and torture yourself every Saturday”.
The little boy thought about it and then he said “Because it makes me happy”.
And so he lived happily ever after.
THE END.
